The Butler Transit Authority (BTA) announced that it will name its boardroom for longtime board member and advocate, Joseph J. Hasychak.

The Authority board voted at the November 18, 2025, board of directors’ meeting to designate the room the Joseph J. Hasychak boardroom. A portrait of Mr. Hasychak along with a plaque will reside in the boardroom located at the Transit Authority’s admin facility at 130 Hollywood Drive in Butler.

Mr. Hasychak helped establish the Butler Township City Joint Municipal Transit Authority in 1989 while serving as Butler Township Commissioner in cooperation with former City of Butler Mayor Ron Forcht. Joe joined the Transit Authority Board at its establishment in 1989.

Joe helped smooth the transition of the agencies name change to the Butler Transit Authority in 2006, and then from Butler Township and the City of Butler stewardship in 2018 to the County of Butler. Joe is retiring from the Transit Authority as the current Chairperson of the Board.  Joe has served as Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary/Treasurer of the Board 5 times each.

Joe has served on the Terminal, Office Equipment (TOE), Public Relations, Subcontractor, Capital Improvement, Personnel, and Expansion Committees.
