Celebrate Earth Day and Save the Planet...Ride Public Transportation

The Butler Transit Authority (BTA) is proud to join the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and transit agencies around the country to celebrate Earth Day and encourage people to go green and ride public transportation.  

Every year people purchase energy efficient light bulbs, adjust their thermostat and replace appliances with high efficiency ones. Did you know that by switching to public transit you can reduce more carbon emissions than all of the above combined? According to APTA, an individual switching to public transit can reduce his or her daily carbon emissions by 20 pounds; that’s more than 4,800 pounds a year. 

BTA is also implementing green technologies with its new Intermodal Transit Center currently under construction on the former Pullman Standard site. The transit facility will be the first LEED “green” transit center in the state of Pennsylvania.
